내가 좋아하는 노래 중 하나가 dirty diana이다.(너무 솔직해.ㅋㅋㅋ)

가수가 되어서,,일반인들이 경험못하는 많은 일을 경험한다.

당신을 잠시 보러 모여드는 수천 수만의 팬들을 보면 무슨 생각이 드나?

팬들을 사랑한다. 이런 건 정말 아름다운 일이다. 팬들께 진정 감사드린다.

인생에서 재미는,,배우는 것,,새로이 알아가는 것,,

인간의 뇌, 해부학 이런것에 관심이 많다.

중간에,,코끼리인간의 뼈를 영국에 들렀을 때, 본 적 있었다는 얘기도 좀 하고...

전쟁싫어하느냐는 질문에,,인간이라면 누구든 다 싫어할 거다.

난 평화를 사랑한다.

사실,,평화의 사절단이라고 생각한다.

꼭 정치적 지위를 가질 필요는 없다. 음악으로 모든 걸 해오고 있다.

든 언어적 장벽 모든 인종의 벽을 허문다. 음악으로,,온 세상은 다 통한다.

마지막에,,일본을 첫 배드투어 장소로 선정하게 되었냐고 묻는 질문에

빅토리 투어는 미국 전지역에서 했다. 다른 나라는 아예 보질 못했다.

그러니까,,이렇게 하는게 공평하다고 생각한다고...ㅋㅋㅋ

물론, 완전 루머입니다.^^

마이클이 무척 친근하게 느꼈으며,,또한 정말 가슴아프게 생각했던 코끼리 인간,,엘리펀트맨,,존 메릭에 대해,,

 

19세기 영국에서 살다가 1890년 27세의 나이로 세상을 뜬 존 메릭이라는 인물입니다.
메릭은 어쩌면 역사상 그 누구보다도 외양이 추한 사람이었습니다.

‘다발성 신경섬유종증’으로 알려진 질환이 아주 어릴 때부터 진행되어 기형인간이 되었습니다.

그는 네 살 때 어머니의 버림을 받았습니다. 유랑극단 흥행사는 그의 기형적이 모습을 사람들에게 보이고는 돈을 벌었습니다.

담요를 뒤집어쓰고 웅크린 그에게 흥행사는 개에게 명령을 내리듯 “일어서”라고 소리치면 담요가 땅바닥에 떨어지면서

사람들은 “이제껏 본 중에서 가장 역겨운 인간상의 표본”을 넋 놓고 쳐다보곤 했습니다.

우리 중에는 이미 존 메릭을 알고 있는 사람도 있을 것입니다.
단지 그 사람이 존메릭이었는지 몰랐을 뿐입니다. 영화나 연극을 통해서도 알려진 코끼리 인간-엘리펀트맨이 바로 존 메릭입니다.

런던 병원의 외과의사였던 트리브스가 엘리펀트맨의 기형을 자세히 기록하고 있습니다.

“덩어리 모양의 뼈가 기형적으로 툭 튀어나온 이마, 허리둘레만한 머리, 침으로 범벅이된 뒤틀린 입,

가슴에서 도마뱀처럼 흘러내린 군살, 살이 축 늘어진 길쭉한 코, 정상적인 팔의 두 배나 긴 오른 팔,

의자를 붙들어야만 서 있을 수 있는 기형의 다리, 그리고 곰팡이가 핀 피부 종양에는 지독한 악취가 풍겨났다.”

메릭은 무신론자들이 절대시 하고 있는 다윈의 자연선택적 논리에서 보면 명백한 자연의 실패작이며 제거되어야 할 불량품입니다.

다윈은 “인류의 유래”라는 책에서 “열등인간은 고등사회의 해악적인 요소로 제거되는 것이 마땅하다.”는 주장을 서슴지 않았습니다.

적합성을 진화의 최고 원리로 주장하는 다윈이나 니체의 철학세계에서는 엘리펀트맨은 생존할 권리도,

고유한 가치도, 보존할 영혼의 가치도 없는 것이 사실입니다. 사랑하는 여러분은 어떻게 생각하십니까?

트리브스는 자신의 친구가 된 엘리펀트맨에 대해 마지막으로 이런 말을 남겼습니다.
“겉모습으로 본다면 메릭은 추하고 역겨웠다. 그러나 만일 메릭의 영혼이 사람의 형상으로 눈에 보인다면 어떨까?

훤칠한 키와 늠름한 풍채에 이마는 반듯하고 사지는 늘씬하며 두 눈은 굽힐 줄 모르는 용기로 번뜩일 것이다.

나는 그가 한번도 자신의 비참한 삶을 한탄하거나 무정한 흥행사에게서 받은 학대에 분개하는 말을 들은 적이 없다.”

기록에 의하면 코끼리인간을 만나본 사람들은 누구나 그 괴물같은 외형 속에 그토록 순결하고 온화한 영혼이,

그런 마음씨가 숨어있다는 사실에 놀라워하면서 돌아갔다고 합니다.

천상의 어떤 천사들은,,스스로 자청해서 거지로 태어나는 경우도 있다고 들었어요.

즉,,인간을 일깨워주기 위해서요.

아마,,코끼리 인간도 같은 사명으로 지상에 내려온 천사였던 것 같아요.

세상에서 가장 추악한 외모로도,, 변질될 수 없는,,

털끝만큼도 못건드린,,코끼리인간,,그의 내면의 고결함요. 

마이클로선 코끼리인간에 대해 당연히,,연민과 동질감을 느낄 만 했군요.

 

 

 

 

인터뷰 원문이에요.

 

How about, one thing that I find is like what you said it took so long to come up with all the different songs on the album and every song is different. You have calypso influences, you have reggae influences, and you had new Koo(?) sound with one, you had heavy metal with dirty Diana.

I love dirty Diana. one of my favorites.

Why?

Because it’s… it’s a lifestory of a groupie. Hate to say the word, groupie, well.. that’s what it is. It’s meant what I’ve experienced, a lot of people grew up on the road, like me.  I don’t remember not performing.  And …

Do you feel you missed out on something by not remembering not performing?

Of course, but I’ve gained a lot, too. A lot of people never get out of their hometown; get to see other wonderful places.  A lot of kids read about things that I get to see in person, all over the world, different places. So that’s… I’m so happy about that. I mean, you never can have everything.

How does it feel when you go in to do a concert somewhere? And literally, there are tens of thousands of people that are rushing over to you, just to get a glimpse.

That’s a wonderful feeling. Especially when you see them smiling. I love the fans. Um… I think it’s very sweet. I feel thankful… is how I feel. I really do. I don’t take any of them for granted.

What would you say, what interests you the most about life?

What interests me the most about life…is learning, finding out new things, exploring different worlds.  I’m so interested in human anatomy now; the brain and… so many different things like that, the bones… and everything.

I know that, you know, this is a sensitive area, but you are so much interested in the bones of the elephant man – John Merrick. (Yes.) Is that because of the anatomical interest?

Yes, I’ve been to the London School for Doctors twice and I’ve visited John Merrick’s remains who I feel closeness to. I love the story of the elephant man – very sad story.

Would you someday like to do, maybe, a remake of the movie or the play?

Umm.  Maybe, maybe.  But I feel it’s been done so well already, what David Lynch did. And I think John Hurt had played. (That’s right, who played in the movie.) John Merrick. I don’t think I can contribute any better than what they’ve done.

The part that I like best is when, after he gains confidence and then he’s back on his way after having gone to the ?? but stole … to the hospital… and then he’s inside the subway station. And finally he has to yell and sigh. (Yeah… ‘leave me alone.’) ‘Leave me alone. I’m not an animal.’ (‘I’m a human being.’) Do we, as human beings, treat people as animals too many times?

I think so. Men’s inhumanity to Man, I mean, that’s been wars all about. (Sure.) So many are the problems in the past.

Are you scared of war?

I don’t think anybody likes war in truth. I don’t like war. I like peace. I’m a peaceful person.

Do you ever think about ever being an ambassador or anything like that? The fact that you're accepted around this whole world. Do you ever think about being some type of an ambassador?

I feel I'm that already with my music and what I've done with music, 'cause it breaks all barriers, I don't have to make a political statement. I do all of that with music. It breaks all language barriers and everything, to all races of people. It goes all over the world. And it's fun to see kids from India, or whatever country you name, you know, who know about the music.

 

(last question, sure). This will be about the tour... (I appreciate the time). Why did you choose to start your worldwide tour in Japan, and not really give your fans here in America a chance to see you until the end of the year?

Well, as you remember, The Victory Tour was all American, and the rest of the world didn't get anything, so it's good to be fair, you know. And actually, I think it's more fair, because the show will be much better when we get here. The worst thing to me, personally, to see is an opening show, because... you know... It's not as tight as it can be, and it was something that my manager had done, and the people who work for me. Wherever they book it, if I like it, I'll go. I like Japan, I've been there before.

Any apprehension about touring by yourself for the first time?

I've done so much, it's all the work. Even when I was little, 13 - solo albums, sole appearances on TV shows and... It is just another road. Of course, you always think: I don't see Marlon next to me, I don't feel Jermaine, I don't... you know...
